Frequently
Asked Questions
We welcome patients with PPO insurance plans offering Out of Network benefits. Although we operate as Out of Network providers, you can fully utilize your insurance benefits for all your dental needs. To ensure transparency, we're committed to providing upfront financial estimates before any significant procedures (upon request). We understand the importance of clear communication and ensuring a seamless experience for our patients.
At La Vita Dental Arts, we handle the submission of your insurance claims so you don’t have to handle the paperwork.
Dental Insurance, in essence, resembles more of a coupon system than traditional insurance. Consider it as a financial arrangement where you contribute, and they dictate the usage. Each year, there's the familiar "use it or lose it" scenario.
Given the multitude of policies from these various companies, our knowledgeable staff is well-equipped to guide you on how we can collaborate to optimize your insurance benefits.
No, you don't necessarily need dental insurance to see a dentist. Dental insurance can help offset the costs of dental care, but it's not a requirement to receive dental treatment. Many dental offices offer services to both insured and uninsured patients. If you don't have dental insurance, you can still make appointments, discuss treatment options, and pay for services out of pocket.
Please call our dental office to learn more about it at (770) 428-0434.
The recommended frequency for dental visits can vary based on individual factors, but a general guideline is to visit the dentist for a check-up and cleaning at least every six months. This biannual schedule allows your dentist to monitor your oral health, catch any potential issues early, and provide professional cleanings to remove plaque and tartar buildup.
However, it's important to note that individual needs can differ. Some people may need more frequent visits, while others with excellent oral health might require fewer visits.
At La Vita Dental Arts, we prioritize your comfort and strive to make your dental experience as stress-free as possible. That's why we offer nitrous oxide, a safe and effective sedation option commonly known as 'laughing gas.' Nitrous oxide helps you relax and feel more at ease during dental procedures, whether it's a routine cleaning or a more extensive treatment.
Our experienced team will carefully administer and monitor the nitrous oxide to ensure your safety and comfort throughout the procedure. If you're someone who experiences dental anxiety or nervousness, nitrous oxide can be a valuable tool to help you feel more relaxed and make your time in the dental chair more pleasant.
Feel free to discuss your preferences and any concerns you may have with our team. We're here to provide you with the best care and support throughout your dental journey.
The frequency of dental X-rays, also known as radiographs, depends on various factors including your oral health, age, dental history, and risk factors. Dental X-rays are valuable tools that help dentists diagnose and monitor dental issues that may not be visible during a regular visual examination.
It's important to note that advancements in dental technology have led to lower radiation exposure with digital X-rays, making them safer than traditional film X-rays. Your dentist will consider your specific situation and needs when determining the appropriate schedule for dental X-rays. Always discuss your concerns and any changes in your oral health with your dentist so they can make informed recommendations.
A prosthodontist is a specialized general dentist who focuses on the restoration and replacement of missing or damaged teeth and other oral structures. Prosthodontics is one of the nine recognized dental specialties by the American Dental Association (ADA). Prosthodontists undergo extensive training beyond dental school to become experts in designing and creating dental prostheses, which are artificial replacements for teeth and other oral structures.
Prosthodontists, such as Dr. Sierra DDS, MS, are skilled in a wide range of treatments that involve restorative, cosmetic, and functional aspects of dentistry. Some of the areas they specialize in include: Dental Implants, Crown and Bridges, Dentures, Cosmetic Dentistry, TMJ Disorders, Complex cases, Maxillofacial Prosthetic.
To become a prosthodontist, a general dentist needs to complete an additional three years of specialized training in an accredited prosthodontic program after obtaining their dental degree (DDS or DMD). This training equips them with the skills and knowledge required to provide advanced and comprehensive dental care for patients who want to prevent or need extensive restorative and prosthetic treatments.
